Below you will find general information regarding natural stone that will be useful when making decisions regarding your project.

Colors

As the name implies, natural stone is not man-made. Therefore, no two slabs of material will ever be identical. We cannot guarantee against any variation in color, shading, marking, or tone characteristics in any natural stone. For that reason, we direct all of our clients to visit a local showroom where they can not only see a variety of samples, but also choose the exact slab(s) they want to include in their project. We work with select local showrooms that carry numerous samples and provide stellar customer service, but you are welcome to purchase your material anywhere you’d like.

Marble (Natural Stone)
  •  Fan favorite for design because of its versatility
  • Bright, elegant, and adds character to any project
  • Not the hardest of the natural stones, making it porous and therefore susceptible to staining
  • Requires some maintenance over time
#
Granite (Natural stone)
  • Available in more “uniform” patterns/colors as compared to marble, but still has naturally occurring imperfections
  • One of the sturdier natural stones, making it harder to stain
  • Often cited as the most durable natural countertop material available
Quartzite (Natural stone) and Quartz (Man-made)

Quartzite

  •     A naturally occurring form of sandstone that has undergone intense heat and pressure
  •     Very durable, non-porous material that comes in a wide variety of colors and designs
  • Has the delicate veining of marble and similar color and pattern to some granites
#

Quartz

  • Man-made by combining crushed rock with resin to form slabs
  •  Arguably the uniform look between the most popular stones
  •  Colored with pigments, so it can come in almost any color you can imagine
  •  Exposure to direct sunlight may discolor the resin that binds the slab together
